BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- With everything on the line in the last race of the 2017 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Series season, the two dominant drivers remained quick in both practice sessions for the West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame Championship 150 on Saturday afternoon from Kern County Raceway Park.

Both Todd Gilliland and Chris Eggleston, Bill McAnally Racing teammates and championship rivals, posted top three times in both 45-minute practice sessions. Gilliland turned the quickest lap in the first practice in his No. 16 NAPA Auto Parts Toyota, racing around the half-mile at 97.513 mph (18.459 seconds). Gilliland was the only driver to break the 97-mph barrier in that session. That quick time came on his second of 11 circuits.

Eggleston was third in that session, thundering around Kern at 96.082 mph (18.734 seconds) in his No. 99 NAPA Filters Toyota. Riley Herbst, making his second NASCAR K&N Pro Series West start of the season, was second quickest in the first session, with NASCAR K&N Pro Series East drivers Ronnie Bassett Jr. and Dillon Bassett coming in fourth and fifth on the leaderboard.

But it was Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender and fellow BMR driver Derek Kraus who turned the fastest overall lap of the two sessions. Kraus ran a lap of 98.162 mph (18.337 seconds) in his No. 19 Carlyle Tools Toyota on his 15th of 23 laps in the second practice session. Gilliland and Eggleston completed a teammate sweep of the first three positions in that session, with Buddy Shepherd and Dillon Bassett rounding out the top five.

Michael Self, winner of the past two K&N Pro Series West events at Meridian Speedway in Idaho and All American Speedway in California, and Nicole Behar also had top 10 fastest times overall.

Group qualifying for the West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame Championship 150 is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. PT, with the green flag scheduled to fly at 8 p.m. PT from Kern County Raceway Park.
